Trans+ month festival 2026: Festival theme
(english below)

“Iste ptice skup letijo”
“Birds of a Feather Flock Together”
With November, we announce Trans+ Month, a festival of gender diversity and a space for exploring gender in all its forms: from its absurdity and repressive force to its potential as a tool for personal expression. This year’s festival subtitle is “Birds of a Feather Flock Together” – a saying about kindred spirits sticking together, especially those on the margins, those of the same ilk, with the same feathers and songs, soaring above the norms and occasionally taking a shit on them.
The year 2026 is once again marked by political attacks on gender and other forms of social diversity, with transness remaining a key tool for mobilizing fear. Attacks on queer communities are intertwined with the rise of anti-immigration politics, militarization, and the erasure of people already pushed to the margins of society. The mechanisms of exclusion may differ, but they share the same impulse to sort people into those deemed worthy and unworthy of protection, belonging, and dignity.
Around the world, we are witnessing a wave of hard-won rights being stripped away, one that is dangerously close to reaching Slovenia. In this climate, it becomes all the more important to ask how we can connect and organize ourselves, rather than simply relying on the state and its institutions.
That is why the focus of Trans+ Month 2026 is on grassroots tactics and strategies for self-organization, building alliances, and collective action in times of crisis. How do we come together when forces are trying to divide us? How do we create our own spaces, exchange knowledge, care for one another, and build alternatives to systems that let us down?
We are interested in the politics of everyday practice, from community care and DIY approaches to collective creation and direct action. What can we do together that we cannot do alone? And how can we turn the anger that comes with fighting for survival into collective power?
Let’s build our nests: communities that know how to organize, forge alliances, and find their own ways forward without waiting for permission. Because birds of a feather flock together, flies gather on shit, and every broom has a broom stick.
